Laurel's Busy Sunday (Sunday, Sept 28)

Ben and I had hoped to get together for breakfast Sunday morning, but he called me on his way to the lab and let me know he couldn't make it. He told me there had been some trouble with his kids this morning - Sophia told her mother off!

I wish I could tell Isabel off, myself. OK, OK, I know it wasn't proper for Sophia to be rude to her mother, but I couldn't help but think: "You go, girl!"

I had some Slim Fast and then headed over to the shop.

There is so much to do! I don't know how I'm ever going to be ready for the Grand Opening. Only eight more days! No, oh no, only seven, actually!

I worked until five o'clock, and by then I was about to keel over. I was hungry and dirty and my legs were cramping from all the hard work. I had made a good deal of progress, though, so I was pleased.

I must say, I was definitely looking forward to getting home and taking a nice long bubble bath.

I opened my door to find my kitchen in flames.

Looking back now, everything that happened for about an hour after that is just a blur.

I remember running outside, screaming.

The lady that lives in the apartment across the way called the fire department and the landlord.

The firemen got the blaze under control very quickly.

They poked around in the ashes and announced that the fire was caused by faulty wiring.

Robert, my landlord, was unhappy because he is going to have to rebuilt my kitchen.

I was unhappy because his crap wiring had sparked a fire.

The only person who was happy was Martina Gates from Channel 6, who turned up to cover the story for the 11:00 news.

Damn vulture.

As soon as everyone had cleared out, I called Ben to let him know that I was OK. I didn't want him to hear about the fire on the news and then worry himself half to death.

He said he'd be over as soon as he could. I told him not to stress if he couldn't make it.

I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself.

  1. Er, I tried to post a comment and Blogger said that it was a no-go so here it is again:

Glad no one was hurt. And Ben was probably just relieved to get out of work. :p

  3. OH man! Fire's are noooo fun! Stress levels are now at maximum capacity! I expect an explosion on the horizon! LOL! Well, I hope not! Glad no one died. That's one thing I always dread. Fires = Sims death. Whew!

  4. Sim fires are stressful for me, too. The very first time I played the Sims 1, I made a Sim, moved her in, she started cooking, set fire to her stove, and died. Her total lifespan was about five minutes. I was so upset, I have never allowed a Sim to die of anything but old age since.

  5. Poor Laurel! Sim fires are so stressful for them, even if they rarely lose anything! Or, at least, mine rarely do. My fires are always boring, LOL!

  8. Really? I didn't mean for that to happen. Do you think they look alike or act alike?

  9. Look alike- well just a little. And she does seem to want to be the leader so I'm guessing they act kinda alike too. I dunno she just reminds me of Linnea! :D

  10. They do look a little bit alike now that you mention it. I think I gave them both the same skin tone. And they're both redheads. Hmmm. Well, Laurel definitely is not as bossy as Linnea, LOL!
